Roni Munk has been photographing for over 50 years and has dedicated himself exclusively to the visual arts for the last 7 years. Photographs are the basis of his artistic expression and from these he creates sculptures and installations using materials such as steel, clay, cement, fabric and acrylic. The result is an alchemy between photographs and different textures, the participating observer himself, space and time.

His studio is located in Araras, a mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, where he prints, laminates and assembles the pieces he develops.

The basis of Roni Munk's work involves the reconceptualization of time and space that finds its origin in a moment or a series of moments captured photographically. While much of photography is limited to the presentation of such moments (often mistakenly referred to as decisive), Munk is concerned with dynamic situations rather than static moments and seeks to create three-dimensional universes in which the viewer is confronted by a situation that evolves as he encounters it, a situation that resonates.

Viewers ultimately define their experience and therefore the work itself. They are asked to define the relevance of an ever-changing universe.

An almost industrial poetic process of rematerializing our everyday world. Munk's world is tactile. It's not about matter, it's about matter and how it alters our perception of the photographic image.

Munk does not seek to control the nature of each individual encounter with his world. He leaves it completely open-ended by asking questions rather than providing answers, thus empowering his multidimensional world to open doors to a multitude of different perceptions and evolutionary experiences. Free will reigns in Munk’s structured worlds.

In the last 5 years, he has held 4 solo exhibitions: Cidade das Artes in Rio de Janeiro, Galeria Reserva Cultural in Niterói, Galeria 18 in São Paulo and at the Instituto Internacional Juarez Machado in Joinville. He has participated in group exhibitions such as Parada 7 at the Hélio Oiticica Arts Center, at the Icon Gallery, in the parallel exhibition of the Parati em Foco festival, and at the Judith Munk Photography Space, in addition to having works selected at festivals such as Parati em Foco, Foto em Pauta de Tiradentes and the Camaçari Photography Club. His works are also in private collections.
